Endodontics
The pulp cavity of a tooth contains the ‘living tissue’ with blood vessels and nerves. Cavities in the tooth can cause the pulp cavity to become exposed, leading to the death of the pulp. The pulp cavity will fill with food, which can result in a tooth root infection.
If detected early, a root canal treatment can be performed. The dead pulp tissue and debris are completely removed, and a filling is placed. This way, the tooth can be preserved, and tooth extraction can be avoided.
