This horse was referred to Equitom with a deep wound located in the lateral heel bulb of the right hind leg. The attending veterinarian had already performed an initial suture to try and control the significant bleeding. But as the bleeding persisted, the horse was transferred to our clinic for specialised care.

🪡 Upon arrival, our team quickly stopped the bleeding before proceeding to surgery. The vessel responsible was identified and carefully ligated.

The wound was then thoroughly cleaned, sutured, and the leg immobilised with a cast. Due to the highly mobile location, strict immobilisation is key to proper healing.
