Fasciotomy and neurectomy

Fasciotomy and neurectomy are performed to treat chronic desmopathies of the origin of the suspensory tendon.  Injuries at the proximal insertion of the suspensory ligament is a common pathology in sport horses. If conservative treatment fails, a surgical intervention is often necessary in chronic cases. A fasciotomy is performed to relief the pressure on the ligament and this is sometimes combined with a neurectomy. We developed a special technique that allows us to do the intervention through a very small incision. It results in better and faster healing with less complications.
