In 2007, Simona graduated from the University of Turin, Italy.
She worked in private practice in Northern Italy for two years before
starting an equine internship at the University of Liège in Belgium.
Afterwards,
she continued on as a clinical assistant in Equine Internal Medicine
and Anaesthesiology. In 2014 she started a residency in Equine Internal
Medicine (European college of equine internal medicine or ECEIM) during
3 years.
During these years of specialisation, she gained experience in
gastro-enterology, neonatology, respiratory and infectious diseases,
cardiology, neurology and dermatology.
Simona attended
several international congresses where she presented her research
projects on "The acid-base status and the microbiota of horses suffering
from atypical myopathy" and "The diastolic function of endurance horses
after a long race". She spend some time at the equine clinic of New
Bolton Center (Pennsylvania, USA) to increase her knowledge in
neonatology.
Since October 2017, she has been responsible for the Internal Medicine service at Equitom.
