Computed Tomography (CT) uses a series of X-ray images taken from multiple angles and computer processing to generate cross-sectional views of internal structures. At Equitom, we offer two distinct types of CT imaging.
Multislice CT (MSCT) – Performed Under General Anesthesi
Multislice CT (Canon Aquilion LB) involves a rotating X-ray tube and a moving table, capturing detailed slices in a helical pattern. This modality provides exceptional imaging of bones and soft tissues, especially in areas such as the lower limbs, stifle, elbow, head, neck, shoulder, and pelvis.
Contrast-enhanced scans (CECT) can further highlight soft tissue injuries or cartilage damage.
Indications include:
CT-guided surgery may follow the diagnostic exam immediately, either in the integrated CT surgery suite or as a CT-assisted intervention. Equitom is internationally recognized for its expertise in CT-guided procedures, especially in fracture repair and treatment of osseous cyst-like lesions
Cone Beam CT (CBCT) – Performed in Standing Horses
Our robotics-controlled cone beam CT scanner (EDAMIS) offers precise imaging with the horse standing and under mild sedation. Using low-exposure, pulsed X-rays in a conical beam, the system captures highly detailed volumetric images.
